The Complaint Free World Challenge (a non religious, not for profit
group) originated in Kansas City, USA in 2006 when Will Bowen handed out purple wristbands to his
congregation of 250 people, with the challenge to go 21 days without complaining, criticising or
gossiping.
Less than a year later Will had received requests for, and had
distributed, over 6 million of the wristbands (worldwide) to people wishing to participate in the
challenge and therefore begin changing their lives for the better by leaving their grumbling and
negativity behind.
The idea is simple: you put a purple wristband on your wrist and when you catch
yourself complaining, criticising or gossiping you move the wristband to the other
wrist.
Scientists believe that it takes
21 consecutive days of a new
behaviour for it to become habitual, hence the
‘21 Day Challenge’. |

The Manawatu and New Zealand challenge came about as a result of a casual conversation and the
lending of the book 'A Complaint Free World' to one person, who was so excited about it, they passed it on to
another. Before you knew it a group of like-minded friends were sitting around a table one evening, planning what
we hoped would become a 'Regional Challenge' like no other!
Our
Mission is to inspire the people of the Manawatu and New Zealand to discover the benefits of 'a complaint free
life', creating a permanent shift towards an improved community
spirit.
