the herb farm media
From the first seed of the concept of the Herb Farm, our business has attracted media
attention. Lynn Kirkland, the founder of the Herb Farm, appeared on the front page of our local newspaper in
1992 with the caption 'Herb business will grow', a prediction that has come true. National coverage followed
when, having been open for only one year, the Herb Farm won the category of "Best New Enterprise" in the 1993
Manawatu Business Awards.
Over the last seventeen years articles on the Herb Farm have been published in New
Zealand magazines, including Next, Cuisine, New Zealand Gardener, Café
and Essentially Food. Overseas tourist operators and media have visited the Herb Farm, and we have
appeared in magazines or newspapers in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia and Singapore. TV crews have come
from Korea, Japan, Thailand and Taiwan and have enjoyed sharing the sensory experience of the Herb Farm with
millions of viewers. We have been on television in New Zealand also, when Bill Ward visited with the crew
from Palmers Garden Show and on Campbell Live in 2009.
Lynn's expertise and passion for the world of herbs combined with her love of writing has
developed into contributions to magazines and newspapers. She was a regular writer in the
Manawatu Standard for many years, sharing anecdotes and hints about gardening with herbs with
the local readers. The Weekend Gardener magazine has published Lynn's articles fortnightly on a
regular basis. Lynn was also a regular on the local radio station.
The herb farm also works closely with Beauty Editors of New Zealand Magazines and has received
extensive product placements and articles in magazines and websites from Uno, New Idea, NZ Weddings, Woman's Day,
New Idea, Her Magazine, NZ Bride and Groom, Girlfriend, Creme, Dash, Femme, Healthy Options to NZGirl and
NZFashion.
