The environment influences our skin in many ways, so it makes sense that changes in season have an affect too. Many know that the winter season brings tight, dry and often itchy skin but what should we expect moving into warmer weather?
We recently spoke to Beauty Therapist and Manufacturing Team Leader, Adrianné, to bring you some top tips and changes to look out for this Spring.
The transition between Winter to Summer brings an increase in temperature, humidity and sun exposure, but there are also behavioural changes that influence our skin’s health as well.
Warmer, more pleasant weather brings barbeques, beach days, more time spent outdoors and possibly engaged in more physical activity. These changes mean increased production of sebum (your skin’s natural oils), higher levels of hydration and more exposure to grime and environmental stressors.
Increased Sebum Production:
As summer sets in, increased temperatures and humidity may mean increased sebum production which could lead to breakouts. If your skin is shiny or greasy an hour or two after you cleanse you should think about using a lighter face cream. If you don’t want to swap completely, try using a lighter face cream in the morning and applying your normal, richer face cream at night. Layering a lighter version of your face cream with a toner or serum will provide you with more customisation while still providing effective hydration.
Exposure to the Elements:
With more sunshine hours we are unfortunately exposed to more UV rays. This means including SPF in your skincare routine is vital! Getting on top of this in Spring is key – don’t get caught out thinking that cloud cover equals UV protection. Shed Winter Dullness:
