Open Book Management

At The Herb Farm Café we share our critical numbers with our team and meet weekly to share progress towards targets and forecast the following period. We believe that collaborating and sharing ideas is a key part of growing as a team and business.


Performance Incentive Program

We love rewarding our team and every member has access to the critical numbers and aware of the weekly budgets set and progress towards these.

When we hit our weekly target then we pay 1% of weekly turnover on a pro rata basis, based on hours worked, to every single team member.

There is no upper limit to the amount we can earn!


Management PIP

Our managers are able to confidently read and interpret the critical numbers and have a deep understanding of the fixed costs and overheads at the café.

We set our managers KPI’s each month based on our COGS and Wage costs. When these targets are met we pay an additional 1% of turnover split between the managers.


Systems

Robust systems are key to a successful business and we invest in the tools we need to thrive. We use a range of systems including Wizbang and Loaded Reports which allow us to track our key numbers daily and helps us hit and exceed our targets.


Employee Professional Development

We are a team of ‘A Player’s’ and know that to achieve this we need to invest in the growth, training and development of each team member. We work closely with a Hospitality Coach and are developing training systems to allow each team member the opportunity to be the best they can be.

SANDRA

Sandra, our Cafe Manager, has been with the café for over 8 years during which time she, and the cafe, has gone from strength to strength! She has embraced the hospitality coaching and loves learning and helping her team grow more confident and capable.

JAMIE-LEE

Our Head Chef, Jamie-Lee, started her time with us as an assistant cook. She has since proved what an amazing asset she is to the business, stepping into the Head Chef role with an easy grace. Jamie keeps a close eye on COGS and is always full of bright and intuitive ideas.

MALIKA

Cafe Assistant, Malika, is a whizz in both the kitchen and FOH area – she's super speedy, willing to turn her hand to anything and has grown her skill set significantly in the short time she has been with us.

CAFE ASSISTANT MANAGER ROLE


At The Herb Farm Café we strive to create a welcoming, positive and caring culture where our team can thrive, learn and grow. 

Our popular café is set in the beautiful grounds of The Herb Farm gardens and is a well-known and loved meeting spot for locals and visitors to the region. 

The Assistant Cafe Manager role is a key part of our tight-knit leadership team. This role is an opportunity for an A-Player to learn and grow within the role and play an instrumental part in the smooth daily operations of the café and deliver on our commitment to exceptional customer service.


To be successful, you will need to have:

- At least 2 to 3 years hospitality experience
- Proven team management skills
- Barista experience preferred
- Ability to work weekends and some evenings
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining high standards
- Exceptional Customer Service Skills
- A General Managers Certificate or the ability to obtain one
- Most importantly, a love for hospitality, an amazing attitude and a customer-first philosophy
